Объем ожидаемых экономических выгод превосходящий те выгоды, которые должны были быть получены от определенных активов при приемлемой норме доходности. Избыток «приписывается» нематериальным активам. На этой основе строится метод оценивания бизнеса или долей бизнеса - один из методов, исходящих из затратного принципа. Он часто используется при оценке нематериальных активов.

Метод оценки бизнеса, доли в бизнесе или ценной бумаги по превышению порождаемого ими денежного потока (или доходов) над нормативным. Во многих текстах называется «методом избыточных доходов», «методом казначейства» и «формульным методом», является сплавом подходов к оценке с позиции активов и с позиции доходов.

Метод оценки (в рамках концепции справедливой стоимости), в основу которого положен следующий принцип: справедливая стоимость идентифицируемого нематериального актива равна современной (приведенной) стоимости чистых денежных потоков, порождаемых этим активом, и эти денежные потоки, относимые на счет данного актива, на самом деле получают подпитку также от многих других активов, материальных и нематериальных, участвующих в формировании совокупных денежных потоков. Вклады активов, участвующих в создании денежных потоков, соответствуют справедливой стоимости этих активов.
